Shoulder seasons can be tricky. It isn’t easy planning your outfit for the day when temperatures fluctuate by 20 degrees. Rather than spend too much time staring at the closet, keep a few layered basics on hand that tap into the hottest trends of the season and can be easily mixed and matched, layered on and peeled off as needed. Structured jackets, classic button-downs, lace camisoles and silk scarves are all seasonal essentials that are easy to dress up or down as the occasion arises. Keep your look fresh by opting for of-the-moment hues like burgundy or runway ready fabrics like suede or lace.

The Tank

A light camisole is the perfect base layer for lots of great seasonal looks this time of year. The right one has loads of style so if midday temperatures climb high you can peel off layers to show it off. Lace is on all the runways this year and makes a nice detail to dress up this base layer for when the occasion arises. Rumored’s Chantily Tank comes in a rich chocolate brown and has adjustable spaghetti straps so it hits just right.

The Oxford

A classic Oxford shirt is what we call a forever staple. It feels lightweight when it’s warm enough to shed a jacket, but when temperatures cool, it provides a soft yet structured base for any fall outfit. Try 365 Collective’s own Greenwich Organic Cotton Relaxed Oxford Shirt  in a crisp white paired with a chunky knit sweater and your favorite jeans, or mix the NYC Organic Cotton Poplin Long Sleeve Shirt in navy stripe with an oversized blazer and add a silk scarf in a trendy burgundy or red.

The Jacket

It’s jacket weather and we are absolutely loving this year’s looks. If you were around in the 1990s to enjoy the barn coat trend but aren’t sure if you want to revisit it, don’t worry. New 2026 iterations are less utilitarian and more fashionable. We love the versions that add a bit of depth and dimension like suede and faux leather details and quilted and lined interiors. Rumored’s oyster-hued Car Coat with blue plaid lining balances classic charm and effortless modernity while the brand’s Yellowstone Jacket is a rich cherrywood suede that will only become more beautiful as it ages.

A Silk Scarf

They seem weightless and decorative, but a beautiful silk scarf can take the edge off when the afternoon chill sets in this time of year and they are all over the runways, so they feel very French-girl-chic. The new Clearly Collective line at 365 Collective celebrates our favorite cities, from Manhattan to St. Tropez. (There is even a New Haven Bulldog one if you’re a Yalie or just a Pepe’s fan—Connecticut friends, you know what we mean.) Spicy fall colors make a white button-down feel seasonally intentional and add a touch of color under a blazer or bomber jacket.

Chunky Sweaters

When it’s sweater weather, there is no better way to cozy up than a chunky sweater. A beautiful knit is timeless and endlessly versatile. Classic navy like the Dockside from Rumored in 100-percent cotton looks great layered under a jacket or draped over the shoulders when afternoon sun warms things up. A cozy mocha blue Fair Isle Knit cardigan with a button front and beautiful texture captures some of this fall’s favorite hues. Juxtaposed by a sexy lace cami it’s sweet and stylish. For a more casual look, a Layover Quarter Zip, with vintage aprés skis vibes, is a great addition for layering when chats around the fire pit are weekend essentials.
