Granoff Architects’ Unexpectedly Stylish Study

Everyone has a favorite spot in the house. For some, itโ€™s a living room whereย  you can relax in style. For others, itโ€™s a state-of-the-art kitchen thatโ€™s beautiful enough forย  hosting a cocktail party. Here, local designers and architects share their mostย  successful spacesโ€”and insider resourcesโ€”so you can create the room of your dreams, too.

Robert Valle of Granoff Architects shares his inspiration for this bright and airy study with unexpected pops of safari decor: This Greenwich, CT, residence includes a sunlight-drenched study designed by architect Rich Granoff. A young family lives in the house, and the husband, who works from homeย  a few days a week, wanted a well-functioning office with โ€œunexpected style,โ€ says Robert Valle, the firmโ€™s senior interior designer. Contrasting dark and light tones delivers the intended dramatic impact: the stained ebony floors and rich oak wood deskย  from Interlude Home stand out against the stark white cabinetry (crafted by Valle himself). As for the bead board ceiling, it โ€œbrings a touch of classicism,โ€ says Valle, noting that the pattern adds movement and interest as opposed to a flat treatment. The final flourishes: a zebra skin rug and antlers that belong to the client, which are mounted on the wall to provide a โ€œtouch of safari dรฉcor.โ€ granoffarchitects.com
