A Simple Cocktail: The Kir Royale

Thereโ€™s no denying that sometimes simplicity really is the best. And the Kir Royale exemplifies this perfectly. Riffing on the classic French cocktail called the Kir (crรจme de cassis topped with white wine) the Kir Royale simply swaps the wine with Champagne. – AJ Dean

Glass: Champagne flute
Garnish: Raspberry

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce black currant liqueur
  • 6 ounces Champagne Raspberry, for garnish

Directions

In a Champagne flute, add the black currant liqueur and top with Champagne. Garnish with a raspberry.

Variation

Any berry liqueur (Chambord or crรจme de framboise, for example) will make an excellent Kir Royale. Just remember that the drink should not be too sweet. The role of the Champagne is to balance the sweetness
