There were 105ย artists and 85ย merchants that participated in the 2018 Art to the Avenue festival along Greenwich Avenue and the side streets for the month of May. Art was displayed in stores, restaurants and other businesses, creating by artists are from all over Westchester and Connecticut.
The artists receive 70% of the sale of their artwork displayed and Greenwich Art Council receivesย 30%, the latter funds art programs for youth in schools in our area andย toward our varied programs in the arts for youth and adults at the Greenwich Arts Council.
โPeople came to Greenwich from all over the tristate area on opening nightย to walk the streets, visit the stores, shop and view the wonderful art and also to enjoy the bands that were performing,โ says Leah Marmon, Greenwich Arts Council and Board President and chairwoman of Art to the Avenue 2018. She also notes that stores that are not well-known gain a new audience due to the art that is displayed there and the interactive maps that were given out showcasing where each work of art was displayed.ย โIt is a wonderful collaboration that truly benefits the stores, restaurants, businesses, artists, andย the Greenwich Arts Councilย programs,โ says Marmon.
