The Audubon Center in Greenwich held its โ€œInto the Woodsโ€ celebration, commemorating Audubonโ€™s legacy of 75 years of leadership in โ€œinspiring a sense of wonderโ€ for all. Guests witnessed the release of a rehabilitated barrel owl on Hawk Watch Lawn and, after being greeted by live birds of prey from the Sharon Audubon Center, headed โ€œinto the woodsโ€ on a lantern-lit path walk. Audubon Greenwich Board Chair Jennifer McCarroll welcomed the attendees and was followed by remarks by Audubon Center Director Michelle Frankel as well as Ana Paula Tavares, Executive Director of Audubon Connecticut and Audubon New York. Connecticut State Senator Scott Frantz was in attendance and First Selectman Peter Tesei added his congratulations and shared a proclamation from the Town of Greenwich, declaring October 16 as Audubon Greenwich Dayโ€”which is also the date that the Center first opened its doors in 1943.
