US Day and MarcUS for Change 5K celebrate community and support at-risk youth

More than 100 volunteers and more than 1,000 visitors came out for US Day on September 18 at Mill River Park in Stamford, CT. Festivities included a multicultural parade led by Stamford Mayor David Martin, international dance performances coordinated by the Mayorโ€™s Multicultural Council, entertainment by Pop Music Academy, and kid zone activities sponsored by Kids Helping Kids. The highlight of the day was the MarcUS for Change 5K Walk & Run, which drew 325 participants, of which Stamford High School won the Spirit Award again this year for the biggest showing. The community event was a collaboration of the Stamford Public Education Foundation and MarcUS for Change and raised nearly $65,000 to benefit Stamford Public Education Foundationโ€™s national recognized mentoring initiatives and MarcUS for Change collaborative partnerships that support at-risk youth.
