Expert Advice on Organization

Want to make this the school year you stay on top of the onslaught of papers, supplies and gear? We asked Corrie Jackson and Jennifer Bakker, cofounders of the Greenwich-based luxe organizing company Maison Haven for their expert tips:ย Designate boxes. โ€œDepending on the age of your kids, they might come home with armfuls of artwork. We love white archive boxes to store everything in as a first port of call. Then, at the end of the school year, you can edit down to the items youโ€™ll keep.โ€

Create sports gear areas. โ€œItโ€™s worth thinking through your fall/ winter sports and figuring out how youโ€™ll store the kidsโ€™ equipment in a way thatโ€™s easy to grab and go. We zone baskets in mudrooms or garages according to sports type, then label them.โ€
Set up a homework space. โ€œMagazine files are great for vertical desk storageโ€”and we often use them to organize school work. And a basket for library books that need returning will save you the Sunday night scavenger hunt.โ€ย
