We asked Corrie Jackson and Jennifer Bakker, cofounders of the Greenwich-based luxe organizing company Maison Haven for their expert tips: Designate boxes. “Depending on the age of your kids, they might come home with armfuls of artwork. We love white archive boxes to store everything in as a first port of call. Then, at the end of the school year, you can edit down to the items you’ll keep.”
Create sports gear areas. “It’s worth thinking through your fall/ winter sports and figuring out how you’ll store the kids’ equipment in a way that’s easy to grab and go. We zone baskets in mudrooms or garages according to sports type, then label them.”
Set up a homework space. “Magazine files are great for vertical desk storage—and we often use them to organize school work. And a basket for library books that need returning will save you the Sunday night scavenger hunt.”
