“This is not a house that’s reproduced,” says Melissa Marcogliese, co-realtor for the property with Compass in Pound Ridge, NY, as well as the interior designer who helped the current homeowner transform the property for the modern homeowner.

Then, they replaced the two-story fireplace surround with marble selected at BAS stone in Long Island City and installed by Fordam Marble in Stamford, CT, which happened to reveal a buddha silhouette when honed. “It’s just kind of fabulous that it happened in this kind of house,” says Marcogliese. “She just magically appeared.”
To add to the home’s luxury, the renovation included adding an indoor heated lap pool and private sauna in the brutalist style. “The design was copied from a five-star hotel where she swims when she’s in Paris,” Marcogliese says of the pool’s design. “The lighting system is thousands of lights behind this stretched piece of fabric, so it actually gives the feeling of sunlight. It’s incredible to swim in there.” Powerful jets can be turned on for added resistance when doing laps.
The kitchen is dressed all in black, from the marble countertops and backsplash to the custom cabinetry with built-in coffee bar and top-of-the-line appliances. The kitchen is open to the bright and window-filled dining room and living room where art, music and conversation take center stage.
