With cold weather comes static, limp strands and split ends. Give your hair some TLC during colder months. Chelsea Callaghan, master colorist at Hopscotch Salon in Greenwich, CT, gives her best advice:

Skip the heat.
โ€œExtra moisture and less heat styling are key. If you do have to heat-style your hair, make sure that youโ€™re using a heat protectant beforehand, such as Kรฉrastase Nectar Thermique,โ€ advises Callaghan.

Do a weekly hair masque.
Callaghan recommends using a high-quality hair masque, such as Kรฉrastase Masquintense, once or twice a week to lock in moisture.

Consider darker color.
Swap out bright blonde highlights for a deeper, richer color to give your hair a break. โ€œIf you absolutely canโ€™t give up your bright summer blonde, just make sure youโ€™re caring for it with extra moisturizing products,โ€ says Callaghan. She recommends in-salon express conditioning treatments (like Fusio-Dose by Kรฉrastase) after every color session โ€œto pack in the protein and moisture,โ€ and donโ€™t wash your hair for 24 hours post-color.

Products can help.
Callaghan loves Bumble and BumbleHairdresserโ€™s Invisible Oil Primer.โ€œIt detangles, defrizzes, protects from heat, softens the hair just perfectly, smells amazing and also has UV protection,โ€ says Callaghan. Use it at the midshafts and ends of your hair toโ€œ add shine and protection from dry cold weather.โ€
