Beauty at Bergdorf’s

When she opened Salon YOSHIKO at Bergdorf Goodman in Manhattan, owner Carol Nappi called on famed designerd Thom Felicia to help create a sense of enjoyment and relaxation. โ€œGoing to get my hair done always felt more like a chore than a luxury and that is not the way it should be,โ€ says Nappi, who named the salon, which means beauty, joy and goodness in Japanese, after her mother. โ€œI think people go to a salon seeking solace, pampering and an escape in a pleasurable, comfortable environment.โ€ Beyond the welcoming space, Nappi says personal service is key. โ€œKindness, compassion and knowing the names of those who walk through the door is a prerequisite for being part of the team,โ€ she says.
