Beauty at Bergdorf’s

When she opened Salon YOSHIKO at Bergdorf Goodman in Manhattan, owner Carol Nappi called on famed designerd Thom Felicia to help create a sense of enjoyment and relaxation. “Going to get my hair done always felt more like a chore than a luxury and that is not the way it should be,” says Nappi, who named the salon, which means beauty, joy and goodness in Japanese, after her mother. “I think people go to a salon seeking solace, pampering and an escape in a pleasurable, comfortable environment.” Beyond the welcoming space, Nappi says personal service is key. “Kindness, compassion and knowing the names of those who walk through the door is a prerequisite for being part of the team,” she says.
